The date retains its historic religious label and is especially consumed during the festivities of Christmas and Ramadan. The market on these occasions is very active and the operators plan their activity to adapt to the strong demand during these periods. It is estimated that this market absorbs more than 50% of marketed table dates.
Since the harvesting period is limited in time, the date packaging factories are equipped with storage facilities so that they can provide the product timely.

These data concern only dates that have been packaged and presented for sale as such. They account for about 15% of global production of raw dates. Dates consumed in bulk and those destined for processing are not included.

]]>There are 425,000 hectares of fig trees in the world, of which 55,000 hectares are in Iran and mainly in the Fars province. Fars with 51,000 hectares of fig trees is the largest province of this crop among the 16 provinces.
Estahban, with more than 24,000 hectares of rainfed fig orchards, has the highest production rate in the province and the country.
Estahban is located 160 kilometers to the east of Shiraz.
Estahban dried figs harvest has begun in mid-August and will continue until early October.
The export of figs this year is estimated to be more than $80million.
75% of dried figs are exported internationally and the rest is consumed domestically.

]]>Forecasted at 195000 Mt, the 2019/20 Iran Pistachio crop is anticipated to return to normal levels this season, after the exceptionally weather-related low crop of 2018/19. Through the new plantings, ongoing rejuvenation of orchards and improvement in water use efficiency, the Iranian crop is expected to average around 150000 in off years and 250000 MT in on-years, with average yields over 1.5 MT/ha, in the next 10 years.
As reported by the Iran Pistachio Association, from September 2018 through April 2019, from a total supply of 87000 MT (in-shell basis), the ending inventory amounted to 44200 MT. 63% of the total marketable inventory of approximately 70000 MT.
As a result of the Iranian pistachio industry effort towards expanding its market to the Indian subcontinent, this was the top destination for Iranian exports, accounting for around 8000 MT. In turn, exports to the Middle East, another growing market, amounted to over 5900 MT.
Along with the CIS countries imports, which added up to over 5300 MT, these three origins accounted for 66% of the total exports.
In recent years, the industry has focused on the domestic distribution system; advertising pistachio as a healthy snack; and improving roasting and packaging machinery. Consequently, apart from the traditional ingredient market, domestic pistachio in-shell consumption was growing steadily.
However, due to the currency devaluation, pistachio in-shell domestic demand fell, while it represented an advantage to boost sales abroad.
Nonetheless, due to the low supply of the last season, international shipments were lower than in previous years.

]]>Miri told Mehr News correspondent that “the minimum and maximum Iranian Saffron price in the domestic market currently stands at $1550 and $2600 (at the government rate of 4,200 tomans for one dollar), respectively.”
Since the season of saffron harvest has just come to an end, we have enough supply of the product, Miri underlined.
Iran exported more than 380 tons of saffron this year, which shows a 15% growth compared with the figure in the corresponding period last year, which was 350, he noted.
Chief Executive of the Central Organization for Rural Cooperatives of Iran Hossein Shirzad said on November 2018, that Islamic Republic of Iran accounts for 96 percent share of saffron exports in the world during the last year (concluded March 20, 2018).
The main export destinations for Iranian saffron are Greece, Spain, the UAE, Italy, the US, India, Azerbaijan, Morocco, and France.
